Strong November Domestic Traffic Balances Dip in International Traffic at Orlando International Airport

Press Release

ORLANDO, FL. – A nearly five percent increase in domestic passenger traffic at Orlando International Airport (MCO) in November balanced out a slight dip in international passenger traffic. With a 4.71 percent increase in year-over-year statistics, more than 3.65 million domestic travelers arrived to or departed from Orlando International in November.

In total, approximately 4.19 million passengers traveled through Orlando International in November, a 3.44 percent increase over November 2018.

International traffic saw a slight decrease with a 4.47 percent decrease in year-over-year statistics. The September ceasing of flights by Thomas Cook impacted volume at Orlando International. The airline, which had served MCO since 2014, averaged between two and 16 flights per week depending on the time of year. The loss of Thomas Cook accounted for 12,000 of the 30,000 fewer seats into Orlando International when compared to November 2018.

Domestic seat capacity, however, had a 6.8 percent increase with an additional 268,000 seats available year-over-year.

November included a bevy of all-new and returning seasonal air service with connections to Green Bay, Wisconsin; New York City, New York; Eleuthera, Bahamas; and Canadian destinations like Ottawa, Halifax and Winnipeg being made available again.
