Orlando International Airport (MCO) is NOT operational.
Please notify your viewers/ listeners/ readers that they SHOULD NOT COME TO THE AIRPORT until we notify the media that the airport is resuming operations. Continued gusty winds are delaying damage assessment teams from beginning the recovery process.
Damage assessment teams are standing by waiting for sustained winds to decrease to a safe level to ascertain what kind of damage the airport has sustained so that the recovery process can begin. Once the recovery process has restored the facilities to a safe operational status, The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) will meet with the airlines to determine a timeline to phase-in operations. This process could take several days.
Travelers are urged to contact their airlines and confirm their new seats before arriving at MCO.
