6/29/2012 - May is Best Month This Year for International Traffic Growth at Orlando International Airport
ORLANDO, FL. - May proved to be the best month for international traffic growth so far this calendar year at Orlando International Airport (MCO). International passenger traffic increased 18.56 percent in May when compared to last year. So far this year international volume has increased 12.64 percent.
"Our continued efforts to focus on international growth appear to be paying off for Orlando International Airport and the entire Central Florida region. With the expected arrivals of new international carriers Volaris to Mexico City, GOL Airways to Sao Paulo, Brazil, Magni Charters to Monterrey, Mexico and AeroGal to Quito, Ecuador and with expanded TAM air service to Rio de Janeiro we are well positioned to improve upon our record breaking year of international travelers," says Phil Brown, Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
May 2012 Statistics:
- International traffic increased 18.56 percent for the month
- A total of 306,919 international travelers moved through MCO in May
- Domestic traffic decreased 1.74 percent
- Overall traffic remained flat compared to 2011, down a fractional 0.01 percent
- For the month a total of 3,050,372 passengers received The Orlando Experience®
