4/4/2011 - February Passenger Traffic Climbs at Orlando International Airport
ORLANDO, Fl. - The number of travelers moving through Orlando International Airport (MCO) climbed 4.2 percent in February. The increase equals 2.7 million passengers for the month.
"Our domestic growth rale of 4.2 percent was above the national average of 2.8 percent for February. Combined with strong international traffic numbers our overall monthly totals pushed past last years' figures", says Phil Brown, Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
Orlando Executive Airport also experienced an increase in overall operations in February, up nearly 9.9 percent from the same time last year.
February Statistical Data:
- Domestic traffic increased 4.24 percent in February to 2,452,162
- International traffic increased 4.18 percent to 255,321 passengers
- Combined traffic increased 4.23 percent
- Combined domestic and international travel reported was 2.7 million for the month or 2,707,483 travelers
Another positive indicator for the region is the amount of cargo and freight moved through MCO. Cargo traffic improved 4.8 percent in February compared to reported stagnation in global freight movement numbers.
