11/20/2007 - 2006-2007 Fiscal Year Sets Passenger Record at Orlando International Airport
ORLANDO, FL. - The 2006-2007 fiscal year is in the books and Orlando International Airport (MCO) ends the year strongly with a 3.05 percent increase in traffic. For the year starting October 2006 through the end of September 2007, the total passenger volume rose to a record 35.8 million (35,778,844) for MCO.
For the month of September, the last month statistics are counted for the fiscal year, total traffic increased more than 9 percent lead by a 16 percent jump in international traffic. In total, over 2.4 million travelers arrived and departed from MCO in September (2,402,775).
September is historically a slower month for air travel across the country. Orlando International reported an increase of 8.4 percent in the total number of airline seats added to the market. This brings the total number of available seats to 114-thousand a day, which by comparison, is more than double the total number of seats in the new Bright House Stadium at the University of Central Florida.
Orlando International Airport, the busiest passenger airport in Florida, is also the best large airport in customer service according to a 2007 Airport Revenue News Magazine survey.
