ORLANDO, FL. - January was a steady month of growth for Orlando International Airport. Passenger traffic increased by nearly 20 thousand travelers when compared to a very busy 2006 when Orlando hosted the National Home Builders Association meeting, one of the largest trade convention gatherings in Central Florida. This year's meeting was held in February. The addition amounts to a .71 percent
increase brining the total number of travelers to 2.8 million passengers (2,849,090).
There were a number of factors that made the increase in travelers encouraging. Annual national weather challenges were a problem in some parts of the country and locally there were fewer big conventions to bring large numbers of tourists and business travelers into the area.
Orlando Executive Airport reported a nearly 38 percent decline in January operations compared to last year, down 37.96%
Orlando International Airport, the busiest passenger airport in Florida with nearly 35 million passengers annually, is also the airport rated as the most family friendly domestic airport according to the American Society of Travel Agents in a 2007 survey.
