ORLANDO, FL. - Picking up passengers just got a lot easier at Orlando International Airport (MCO). A new, FREE, secure, cell phone parking lot is open for business. The newest addition to Orlando Internationals parking system also incorporates the latest in technology, complimentary Wi-Fi access. Parties waiting for travelers to arrive at MCO can now access the internet, check e-mail and conduct business online without charge.
"By providing this new passenger pick-up option just before the holidays we are confident the overall travel experience will be enhanced for all passengers. We are effectively eliminating a portion of the traffic on our roadway system making pick-up more timely, efficient and predictable," says Chris Schmidt, Deputy Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
The nearly 100-space cell phone lot is located adjacent to the Red Satellite Lot and provides drivers easy access to the terminal. This convenient parking area eliminates the need for circling the airport if an arriving party is later than expected. The cell phone lot is an ideal location to wait in a vehicle until the arriving traveler lands, deplanes, collects their baggage and then uses their cell phone to notify transportation when they are ready to depart the airport.
Curbside waiting is prohibited by Federal rules and regulations. Unattended vehicles are subject to being towed at owners expense.
In a recent survey, Orlando International, the busiest airport in Florida, was rated as the favorite airport of American travelers according to TripAdvisor.com the largest travel related community in the world.
