3/10/2006 - Orlando International Starts New Year on Positive Note
ORLANDO, FL. - Orlando International Airport started 2006 on a positive note. The airport experienced an increase in passenger traffic which comes after another record year of travel in 2005 when 34.1 million passengers used Orlando International. For the month of January, traffic increased nearly 2.5% (2.47) to 2.8 million (2,829,336).
This level of increase in passenger traffic allows us to continue with our focus to increase capacity within our existing facilities through the use of innovative technologies. At the same time it allows us to plan projects and facilities that provide a high level of customer service for future growth, says Steve Gardner, Interim Executive Director for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
An increase was also recorded at Orlando Executive Airport. Overall operations improved over 9% (9.33) compared to January of last year.
Orlando International Airport serves more domestic markets than any other airport in Florida helping to make it the busiest airport in passenger traffic in the state with over 34.1 million travelers in 2005.
